The Nebraska State Bar Association (NSBA), a 9,300 member professional association of lawyers and judges dedicated to improving the administration of justice, is seeking a successor to its current executive director, who will retire in fall 2013.

The NSBA executive director is the association's top paid administrative executive, responsible for the overall management of the bar and its affiliates, including achieving short and long term objectives. Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing all association activities including administrative, fiscal and human resource management, government, judicial and public relations, admissions, membership development, programs and services and organizational growth;
• Providing leadership and direction that creates a high level of enthusiasm, expectancy and momentum among the volunteer leaders, NSBA staff and membership;
• Serving when called upon as a spokesperson for the NSBA; and
• Serving as director of admissions to the bar, as well as on other commissions and committees.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Successful career track record in association management
• Currently serving as the top executive of a comparable state or large metropolitan bar association or other professional services-focused association with a proven track record of success
• Alternative experience includes serving as a "#2" or other senior-level executive at a complex business association, or as an executive from a law firm or private or public sector entity
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in law, business, public administration or related field highly preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development through the American Society of Association Executives or Certified Association Executive designation preferred
