What barriers do students still see in the processes to get into law school and create a successful legal career? In a profession that is slow to evolve, we will hear ideas from students about how the profession can change for the best.

Arielle Williams is a 3L at Texas A&M University School of Law. Arielle is the President of the Black Law Student Association (BLSA), The Chair & Founder of the Texas A&M School of Law U.N.I.T.Y. Council, and a student member of the Diversity Council. She is also a Citation Editor for the Journal of Property Law. Arielle participates in multiple student organization including: the Employment & Labor Law Student Association, Women of Color Collective, and the National Lawyers Guild she also represents TAMU SOL as a Student Ambassador. Arielle wants to practice Labor and Employment Law after graduation so that she may strengthen workers’ rights and improve workplace discrimination jurisprudence. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and spending time with family.
Emile Lopez is a first-generation Latina law student in the part-time program at University of North Texas Dallas College of Law. She works full time as a paralegal at a Personal Injury law firm during the day. She is a student liaison for the Dallas Bar Association Minority Participation Committee and the Historian for the Hispanic Law Student Association at UNTCOL.
Kristy Uyen Le is a 3L concentrating in Intellectual Property Law and Business Law at Texas A&M. She currently serves as the President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and Social Chair of the Student Bar Association, and is a member of the Texas A&M Law Review.
Kristy is a San Francisco Bay Area native and attended UC Berkeley, graduating with honors in Legal Studies in 2015. Following UC Berkeley, Kristy worked in corporate immigration as a Paralegal and a Human Resource Immigration Coordinator at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP. Kristy will be the first in her family to become a lawyer.
Herschel Bowens is a 2L at Texas A&M School of Law. Before law school, Herschel spent 15 years with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service, working in the agency’s Boston and Dallas offices. In law school, Herschel is dedicated to the Law Speaker’s Bureau, Black Law Student’s Association, the Mock Trial team, and serves as a Barbri Ambassador. After law school Herschel plans to pursue a career as a civil litigator and trial attorney.
