The Tarrant County Bar Association distributes judicial polls to its members. The Tarrant County Bar Association does not endorse any judge or candidate for elected office. The results of the polls are not an endorsement by the Tarrant County Bar Association. The poll is intended to serve an educational purpose to the public and legal profession. Use of the poll results for any other purpose is not intended. A Tarrant County Bar Association member in good standing may vote in the judicial polls. Members are asked to evaluate a judge only if they have personal, firsthand knowledge of the judge. Two types of polls are conducted.
In non-election years, the Tarrant County Bar Association conducts its Judicial Evaluation Questionnaire, in which members are asked to evaluate all elected and appointed judges on a number of criteria.
In election years, the Tarrant County Bar Association distributes a Judicial Candidate Qualification Poll before the general election, in which members are asked to rate the qualifications of candidates in each contested race.
2026
The 2026 Judicial Candidate Poll ran from January 6, 2026 to January 29, 2026. The Judicial Candidate Poll is a survey of the attorney members of the Tarrant County Bar Association that work in Tarrant County. Per the bylaws, the questionnaire only asked members to rate the candidates in a contested race. Two thousand twenty-six members were eligible to vote, and 441 members voted (21.8%).
2025
The 2025 Judicial Evaluation Poll ran from May 5, 2025 to May 28, 2025. The Judicial Evaluation Poll is a survey of the attorney members of the Tarrant County Bar Association that work in Tarrant County. Per the bylaws, the questionnaire only asked members to rate the judges they had appeared in front of in the last five years. Two thousand one hundred and ninety members were eligible to vote, and 395 members voted (18%).
2024
The 2024 Judicial Candidate Poll ran from February 1, 2024 to February 15, 2024. The Judicial Candidate Poll is a survey of the attorney members of the Tarrant County Bar Association that work in Tarrant County. Per the bylaws, the questionnaire only asked members to rate the candidates in a contested race. One thousand six hundred and ninety-five members were eligible to vote, and 295 members voted. The Judicial Evaluation Poll is not an endorsement by the Tarrant County Bar Association. The opinions expressed by TCBA members in the Judicial Evaluation Poll are not an opinion of the Tarrant County Bar Association.
2023
The 2023 Judicial Evaluation Poll ran from September 29, 2023 to October 20, 2023. The Judicial Evaluation Poll is a survey of the attorney members of the Tarrant County Bar Association that work in Tarrant County. Per the bylaws, the questionnaire only asked members to rate the judges they had appeared in front of in the last five years. Two thousand one hundred and fifty-six members were eligible to vote, and 378 members voted. The Judicial Evaluation Poll is not an endorsement by the Tarrant County Bar Association. 2022
The 2022 Judicial Candidate Poll ran from January 24, 2022 to February 10, 2022. The Judicial Candidate Poll is a survey of the attorney members of the Tarrant County Bar Association that work in Tarrant County. Per the bylaws, the questionnaire only asked members to rate candidates in a contested race. Two thousand forty-five members were eligible to vote, and 376 members voted. The Judicial Candidate Poll is not an endorsement by the Tarrant County Bar Association. 2021
The 2021 Judicial Evaluation Poll ran from December 28, 2021, to January 14, 2022. The Judicial Evaluation Poll is a survey of the attorney members of the Tarrant County Bar Association that work in Tarrant County. Per the bylaws, the questionnaire inquires into the qualifications of full-time judges, sitting in Tarrant county on any federal or state court of record and of any full-time justice or judge sitting on the Texas Supreme Court, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and the Texas Court of Appeals for the Second Supreme Judicial District. Only judges who have served in office for at least a year as of the time the poll was launched shall be evaluated. Two thousand eight members were eligible to vote, and 441 members voted. The results are based on the evaluations of the Tarrant County Bar Association voting members who have personal knowledge of the candidate. The Judicial Evaluation Poll is not an endorsement by the Tarrant County Bar Association. The opinions expressed by TCBA members in the Judicial Evaluation Poll are not an opinion of the Tarrant County Bar Association.
